It’s the beginning of April, when the Maple trees are blooming and the Willow trees have catkins all puffed out on their limbs. The Ankney National Wildlife Reserve, near Salem, Oregon, has several lookouts and two rail trails through a beautiful wetlands. One rail trail is much longer, my usual hike, but this time I took a side trip to the smaller rail trail. At both locations I found lush green landscapes and and great diversity of birds. I’m not normally a bird photographer, but I managed to grab a few shots of with my telephoto lens.
